Rosati Windows and Doors of Columbus, Ohio – Review of Price and Process

When it came time to get quotes from local window companies in Columbus, Ohio Rosati was one of the first names that came to our minds.

Best Window Replacement Companies – Columbus, Ohio

If you’ve lived in Columbus or central Ohio for more than a hot-minute, then you’ve likely seen the Rosati commercials. It’s second generation owner, Mike Rosati touting on TV that they are not high-pressure and that they don’t sell windows, but rather they inform you of the process and their products so you know what to expect. He speaks to taking care of his employees, their families and also taking care of their clients. They do things the “old fashioned” way which is how Mike learned from his father.

Rosati Windows – Demonstration and Quote

When it came time for my husband and I to arrange for 3 or 4 or 5 companies to come into our home to get quotes to replace our builder-grade windows, Rosati was at the top of the list. We were familiar with their commercials and for us, they are right around the corner off Roberts road.

“Ralph” was the sales representative who was sent to our home. As of this writing, we’ve sat through five window demonstrations and when I think of professionalism and personality alone, “Ralph” ranks #2 just behind “Joe” at McCloud Windows, but I really did like “Ralph” and so did our dog.

Rosati sells windows and doors. They manufacture everything in their shop off Roberts road on the northwest side of Columbus. All of the people in their factory, their sales guys and their installers are all employees of the company. Many of them have been there for 20 or 30 years with the newest person being there like seven years. “Ralph” our sales representative went into much detail of how the business got started.

He eventually got around to speaking about the windows and how they were made, but he didn’t bring a window sample into our home, which I thought was weird. He was here for like 25 minutes. “Ralph” was knowledgeable and left us with a quote so we could “think on it” and said we could get back to him with questions or to let him know if we wanted to move forward. He also offered to set up a time for us to come tour the factory, since it was so close to where we live.

As I’ve continued to shop replacement windows and gain more quotes, it has come up multiple times that Rosati’s window has the thickest profile. Replacement windows usually have a wider frame profile than new construction windows. That means you might lose a bit of glass space, and in some cases, your existing blinds or window treatments may no longer fit inside the window frame — especially if your current windows are original builder-grade with custom-fitted coverings.

Of all the companies I’ve looked at, Rosati Windows has the largest frame profile. As you’re comparing vinyl replacement windows, be sure to ask about the frame and sash width — it can make a noticeable difference in both appearance and function.

Columbus, Ohio Window Replacement Companies

Rosati was the first company that gave us a quote and it was much lower than I expected, but not the lowest as I would learn after getting additional quotes.

Be sure to see the Wacky Window Woman Comparison Chart, where over the next few weeks and months I’ll continue to add the information we’ve collected from central Ohio Window Replacement Companies.

Ultimately, we chose to go with McCloud Windows as their window was comparable to Rosati. For me, the memory mesh on the screen was a differentiator. “Joe”, the sales guy for McCloud, put a golf tee through the mesh and left it there for a few minutes. When he pulled it out you could see right where the tee had been and of course, it was large enough a bug or fly get through. But then, he rubbed the screen and like magic the screen’s memory mesh went right back to it’s original shape, meaning no bugs could not get through.

Rosati Windows Pricing for Replacement Windows

Mad City Window and Baths was the first quote we received. Then someone mentioned they had used McCloud Windows and were happy, so we called them in second and then Rosati.

Mad City had crazy high prices. Their demonstration was top notch, but the pricing was almost two-times higher than Rosati or McCloud, so they were immediately removed from the short list. Rosati adds in a cost to remove and haul away the old windows and materials and also adds a flat fee if you want to finance the windows, so that drove up their price to be higher than McCloud Windows.
