In this blog, I’ll be doing a side-by-side comparison of Champion Vs. Rosati Windows in Columbus, Ohio.
When I first started shopping and looking around, I seriously thought I’d be able to call three companies explain that I was looking for ballpark quotes and could they email me some information? Boy, was I wrong. Every single one that I spoke to indicated that they only give quotes during their in-home presentations. I didn’t want to sit through three in-home presentations. However, I soon realized that was going to be the only way I could get my hands on the information I was looking for.
Be sure to see the results of my so far, nine demos in the Wacky Window Woman Price Comparison Chart. Once I started inviting companies in, I realized, there was a need for someone to put together enough information that a typical consumer could do much of their initial analyzation online.
Best Replacement Windows for Ohio’s Climate
Columbus Ohio has no shortage of Window Replacement companies. Two of the larger, well-known names are Champion and Rosati. Champion has a location in the Lewis Center area and Rosati is on the Northwest side of Columbus. They both advertise a ton on local TV commercials, but is one better than the other?

What really happens during a free in-home window estimate appointment?
“Charlie” from Champion showed up prepared to do a full window demonstration. He had a bag with his “stuff” and cut-out of a sample window. “Ralph” from Rosati walked in with a quote sheet and a brochure. No window. The Champion rep was here for like an hour and a half and the Rosati guy was here for like 25 minutes. Both were great guys, but Charlie clearly out shined Ralph when it came to his presentation.
Charlie had us start out at the kitchen table and we exchanged contact information and he question why we were in the market for new windows. I learned that Champion only offers triple-pane windows. To me, that meant more money and I was concerned about how “thick” they would be and would they stick out beyond the edge of our vinyl siding? Charlie referred to his window sample and assured me that even though they would be thicker than a double pane, I would hardly notice. He also made mention that I’d likely have to get new blinds as the current ones that fit inside the windows would probably not fit once the new windows were installed. This was a disappointment as I wasn’t really looking to spend even more money to buy new blinds.
Charlie then pulled out his heat lamp and began to demonstrate how much heat gets through the different types of glass that he had with him. Of course, the triple pane with low E and Argon gas let the smallest amount of heat through and he assured me that they would also help with road noise as I mentioned that earlier to him as well.
Ralph on the other hand walked around the house, measured the windows and filled in the blanks on his quote sheet. He didn’t really speak much about the windows, but rather more around the Rosati family and how long they have been in business in Columbus, Ohio. He handed me the quote, he didn’t try to close me on the spot and suggested I call him if I had any questions.
Average Cost of Window Replacement in Columbus Ohio
The first thing to understand if you are considering these two companies, is that since Champion only offers triple pane windows they will be higher in cost. I called my Rosati rep back and asked for a triple pane price. He told me that if it was noise that I was really concerned about that I should consider laminate glass as any company who offers triple pane isn’t really doing it right? I didn’t really understand his response.
Rosati did give me a price for an upgrade to laminate, but to be honest, I don’t know if its fair to compare a laminate window to a triple pane. The cost for the laminate is in the Wacky Window Woman Price Comparison Chart.
If I compare the original quote I got for double pane windows from Rosati to Champion, that doesn’t seem fair either as Champion doesn’t offer double pane windows only triple pane windows. The Champion price came in at $17,900 compared to Rosati’s $11,300 – but again one is quoting double and one is quoting triple pane windows, so not really an apples to apples comparison.
