New Window Installation Columbus Ohio

“Harry” from Hegg Windows showed up right on time and was very patient in waiting for our dog to calm down. He came through the door professionally dressed and with one brochure. Once the dog quieted down he began to ask us questions about why we want to replace our windows.

We gave him the same response we had given the eight window companies before him. Our home is almost ten years old and the builder grade windows are cutting it for us. The back of our home faces west meaning lots of Summer sun and Winter winds. Wilson Road is part of our backyard. There is a train yard about 2000 feet away, so it all adds up to a very noisy situation. We told him we were considering triple pane windows.

What is the most common Replacement Window

Unlike many of the others, “Harry” didn’t try to steer us in one direction or another. Yet, he also didn’t go into any detail about his windows other than they were made by Provia in Sugar Creek, Ohio. He didn’t mention Low E glass or Argon gas. “Harry” did ask if we wanted a quote for double pane and then also a quote for triple pane. We told him we did.

To be honest I was very underwhelmed with his presentation or what I would call his lack of presentation. He didn’t bring a window into the house. He did offer to set up a time for us to come see their showroom off Sawmill Road. He was in and out in less than 30 minutes. That was nice.

Of course, there is no way for “Harry” to know that I’ve sat through so many of these window demos that there is no way I could find the time to visit his showroom, continue to shop Columbus Ohio Replacement Window companies for my website and blog plus keep up with my full-time job!

The quote did come through in electronic format about thirty hours after he left our home. He had said he was hopeful that he could get it to us by the end of day, but it ended up being the afternoon of the next day. He emailed it, then also followed up with a text to let me know that the quote was in my email.

New Windows Cost Columbus Ohio

Hegg’s price came in at $10,135, which puts them in second place currently. The number one spot is held by Window World with McCloud Windows being a close third.

McCloud and Window World both sell Alside brand windows. The 4000 series that Window World offers are considered Alside’s budget friendly version, whereas the Mezzo Window that McCloud offers is more of a luxury window with a slim profile. This means less frame and more glass. It doesn’t feel so much like a replacement window with its narrow profile.

Hegg’s window quote included the same windows and specifications as the others. Twelve windows, White Vinyl, Double Hung, two windows include grids, no tempered glass and then a cost to upgrade to triple pane windows as an option.

Best Energy Star 7.0 Rated Windows in Columbus Ohio

In 2023, the Energy Star organization upped their requirements to include a rating that they call 7.0. On the Wacky Window Woman list, of the top three, only McCloud Windows offers Windows that meet the new 2023, 7.0 Energy Star certification.

There is $600-$700 difference between the number one, two and three spot on the Wacky Window Woman Price comparison chart. The energy savings with a window that meets the Energy Star 7.0 requirements would likely get you back your $600-$700 in a few short years.

Hegg Windows Columbus Ohio – Honest Review

Both Hegg and McCloud Windows had the most detailed quotes as far as information on what exactly was quoted. Universal Windows Direct, Window Nation, Champion and Renewal by Andersen didn’t leave or send a quote at all. Many of the quotes mentioned a brand, but didn’t get specific around which window model or series was being priced.

For those of us who do our homework, the exact model of the window you are quoting is important as the different series or lines offer different features.

Hegg comes in at second place based on price alone. From the research I’ve been able to gather the Provia Endure Window they offer is superior to the Alside 4000 series you can get from Window World. However, I still feel that the Alside Mezzo Window by McCloud is a better window. It has a slim frame, giving you more glass. It also meets the Energy Star 7.0 2023 qualifications which will help keep you comfortable in the cold and warm months. It will also help you save money on your energy bills.
